PADRE CONFIOLI – Album I Messagi di Medjugorje

“Medjugorje Project” is a record work to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the apparitions in Medjugorje.
There are thirty songs with the original texts taken from the messages of the Madonna.
The lyrics of the songs are assembled by reducing the messages of a year (on the 25th day of each month) into a song, plus some small additions of personal messages to the various visionaries of Medjugorje.
They are three music CDs with 10 songs each, for a period of thirty years…
The Queen of Peace be with us!
Giuseppe Cionfoli, aka Padre Cionfoli!

Short Presentation – “Padre” CIONFOLI

GIUSEPPE “Father” CIONFOLI is a “songwriter of God” by vocation.

Wearing his friar’s habit, he was chosen in 1981 by the television show “Domenica in” to participate in a competition of new voices. The song performed was “Nella goccia entra il mare” which spoke of the concrete experience that the Christian makes of God when he allows him to enter his own small drop of himself letting himself be filled.

Cionfoli’s success was immediate, so much so that he was called the “Minstrel of God”.

Participation in the Sanremo Festival, 1982 edition, was a must, with “Solo Grazie”: a song to life. Of that edition of the Sanremo festival “Father” Cionfoli was the moral winner, so much so that in a short time “Solo Grazie” arrived at the top of the charts of the best-selling records in Italy and in the world. Cionfoli in that period devoted a lot of space to preaching, participating in meetings for young people and prayer-meetings organized by parishes, dioceses or groups of Catholic inspiration for charity purposes.

There are also numerous tours abroad (Canada, Australia, the United States and Europe). One of the most exciting experiences of that year was the concert held in the Bari stadium, which was also attended by Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

In 1983 he participated in his second Sanremo festival with the song “Shalom”, invoking peace.

Also to be remembered: his participation in the Sanremo 1994 festival with “Squadra Italia” (in a song on the fundamental values of the family) and his passion for art with the creation of paintings and sculptures inspired by Padre Pio.
Witnesses of his works were Federico Fellini, Alberto Sordi and Mike Bongiorno. Some sculptures are exhibited in various Italian cities.

JERUSA BARROS Album “Ilhas (Isole).. A new Capo Verde voice…

Cape Verdean by birth and Palermitan by adoption, Jerusa Da Conceiçao Barros is a singer and songwriter who with her artistic and biographical experience represents a valuable synthesis between Creole Africa and the heart of the Mediterranean. Her music is imbued with both Cape Verdean colours and rhythms as well as the warmth of Mediterranean sounds, capable of creating a completely new formula for Italian songwriting.

She combines the Sicilian popular repertoire, as an interpreter of Rosa Balistreri, and the Cape Verdean popular repertoire, as an interpreter of Cesaria Evora, Teofilo Chantre, Ildo Lobo, Tetè Alhinho, Mario Lucio and all the great names that have contributed to making the Cape Verdean music known to the whole world. This period of great artistic growth finds further fulfillment in 2001 through the creation of the band (voice, guitar, bass, piano and percussion) “Cabeça Negra”, thanks also to the strong feeling with her life partner Francesco Cimino.
With this band, the singer ventures for the first time in the writing of songs, especially Cape Verdean texts that speak of her life, of her being in fact foreign in Cape Verde and “twice islander”, and of all the suggestions related to this: the wind, the sea, the land, the travel as a spiritual condition. The rediscovery of her mother tongue is of particular importance, both in her life and in her songs.

Jerusa says: «I wanted to talk about myself and my life and I started writing songs like “Estranjera cabverdiana”, which talks about my being a foreigner in Cape Verde, or “Em que lingua vou falar”, in which I asked myself in what language I had to speak when I met a sister in Cape Verde that I had never met before». It is a successful mix of Cape Verdean rhythms and Mediterranean sounds in the name of original and contemporary world music, that brings Cabeça Negra onto several important stages.

Extrait “ONDA SU ONDA » created by Paole Conte

Hellen Page

The sound of Dj Thor meets that of bassist and international producer Tony Corizia in a new 18-track concept album titled “Odyssey (Ancient Beats & Myths)”.
The two well-known artists – who are not new to major musical projects together – this time, inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, musically address the theme of travel.
During the long quarantine period, isolated in their own studios and connected to each other only through the internet, they have made together, note after note, this long album of an almost 80-minute lenght.
A current original and very visionary sound path where they explore different places, emotions and cultures through music, virtually as in Ulysses’ journey, without moving physically but only in a musical sense that recreates those emotions and sensations.
The themes of sea and nature strongly return throughout the album.
Refined electronic atmospheres, unique ethnic sounds typical of Anatolia along with instruments such as the duduk and forays into chill out music, afrohouse and progressive house with an inevitable touch of pop and jazz that turn some of the tracks into possible radio hits.

Virtually coming out from the Mediterranean Sea and sailing beyond the Pillars of Hercules to Capo Verde, whose music inspires part of this journey, as in the case of Gianni Morandi and Cesaria Evora, who duet together in a classic Cape Verdean, or Giusy Ferreri who sings Creole along with the sensual voice of Jerusa Barros in a brand new remixed track.
International taste in the arrangements and lots of Italian music revisited in a very modern and experimental key: the voice of Massimo Ranieri in an electronic tango with an r’n’b groove, the unmistakable voice of Bruno Lauzi in an electro swing version of “Onda su Onda”.
High level chill out in “Daleko” with pianist and composer Stefano Bollani, the flute of the legendary Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and Tinkara that intertwine in a classic house piece.
Some tracks are steeped in mystery, inspired by the oldest places in the eastern Mediterranean and with very modern arrangements, typical of the Burning Man Festival.
Another very interesting song on the album is “Stay”, arranged and written by the two artists with the electronic disco dance guru Fabrice Quagliotti of the legendary french group Rockets.

On the album there are also several narrative voices (in English and Italian) from strong cinematic flavor, mention the ancient Homeric poem and a truly inspired poem of the early Twentieth Century.
The album ends with “Götterdämmerung” (or “The Twilight of the Gods”), a name inspired by Richard Wagner, the “trait d’union” between the Nordic mythology – from which the same Dj Thor has drawn inspiration for his name – and the very similar ancient Mediterranean myths (to which, instead, the Odyssey is inspired).

Several hidden and cultured quotes, many emotional musical visions for this long virtual journey, born during the long Spring 2020 quarantine.

Thor (who currently records with Plaza Mayor Company Ltd) is an international DJ and musician, based in Rimini and Riccione. He has performed with his music in Italy, the United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States, the Principality of Monaco, Germany and Japan.
He is the resident DJ of “Villa delle Rose” in Misano and “Peter Pan Club” in Riccione: two Italian reference clubs on the world scene.
Tony Corizia, bass player and producer, well known in the international music scene, member of the italian rock band “MotelNoire” (an album for Sony Music ) and co-author and bass player for Rockets’ “Kids from Mars”. Over time, among others, he has collaborated with Steve Bush (Stereophonics), Bill Rieflin (R.E.M.), Federico Zampaglione (Tiromancino), Jake la Furia (Club Dogo) just to name a few.
In the past the two artists composed and produced together the music for BATMAN “Dark Tomorrow” (Kemco / DC Comics / Warner USA) in collaboration with Tot Taylor and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Abbey Road Studios in London and later in Tokyo.
Together they also started the international project Hit-Aliens in 2004 and released the single “Es la colegiala” (FullFX / Warner Music) with the “cameo” by Chuck D (Public Enemy).

The international producer Alberto Zeppieri played the role of “diplomatic agglomerator” beetwen the two and the several artists who take part in the album adding their featurings.

OGGI 4UATTRO – Album “La Dolce Vita”

L’album “LA DOLCE VITA” (THE SWEET LIFE)

ROB STRINGER TALKS SONY’S STRATEGY, TENCENT/UNIVERSAL… AND WHY MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN ‘2 MINUTES OF SOMEONE SNORING IN LAPLAND’

What’s Rob Stringer’s biggest challenge as leader of Sony Music Group(and Sony Music Entertainment)? Well, it ain’t profit margin.

He made that abundantly clear at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia conference in New York last Thursday (September 19), where he said: “At Sony, margin is really important and our margin [at Sony Music] is excellent. Are we perfect? Of course not, we have other areas to improve — but the margin is not an issue.”

(MBW analysis suggests that Sony Corp’s Music operation – encompassing records, publishing and ‘Visual Media & Platform’ – posted a $1,28bn , which only included a few months of ownership of EMI Music Publishing.)

So, if it’s not profit margin, what does Stringer see as the biggest test of Sony’s mettle in the years ahead? Speaking with Goldman analyst Lisa Yang, he indicated that, actually, it might be artists – as in, signing enough of them, while ensuring the quality of their output remains high across the board.

“The sheer volume of music that comes through the distribution platforms has increased greatly – there are 40,000 tracks added every single day,” said Stringer, referring to the oodles of recordings which are uploaded to Spotify every 24 hours.

“It would be obvious to anybody with common sense that we would need to up the number of tracks we potentially have ownership [on] or a partnership [with].”

“The [three major music] companies are not the same: yes, we all work in music, we all put out frontline repertoire, we’re all looking for hits… but we’re not the same in terms of structure and size. Our parent companies are very different.

“MARKET SHARE CAN BE BOUGHT FOR A CERTAIN PRICE.”

“[We have] different overhead structures, numbers of people [employed], different reasons for [prioritising either market share, profit or revenues]… Market share can be bought for a certain price.”

“Parent companies differ in their philosophies and strategies. We just bought EMI Music Publishing for over $4bn so that shows you Sony [Corp’s] commitment to the music market – I don’t think they would have done it otherwise.

“The value of [EMP] is [already] probably worth more [than $4bn]; people are buying [publishing] catalogs this year at multiples of 22 to 23X [EBITDA]. I think we got a pretty good deal in EMI, from the time we signed it at the turn of the decade to now.”

ON… WHY SONY PAID $200M TO BUY THE 50% IN THE ORCHARD IT DIDN’T ALREADY OWN IN 2015

“My predecessors and some of my team today bought 50% of The Orchard less than 10 years ago for $30m; we bought the second half for $200m, and it’s probably worth now – and I’ll be conservative – hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars as a section of our business.

“That was good timing; it was a necessary shift to where, as it turns out, the streaming model has gone. We have to be an aggregator for a lot more content. And The Orchard’s at the center of our strategy… with the huge number of labels [and artists] it distributes, it partially [tackles] the 40,000 tracks a day syndrome.

“Also, there is an upstream potential [for Orchard artists] with the major label structure we have. It works across two facets.”

Aniello Misto – Album “Parthenope” Una storia di Napoli…

Aniello (name) Misto (family name) is a Neapolitan singer, composer and musician, that approaches music at a young age. He starst playing the bass self-taught on the streets of Herculaneum, his beloved homeland, when he’s just eight years old.

In 2018 he published his fifth cd, “PARTHENOPE”, whose songs deal with particular themes of profound importance, sometimes burning and disconcerting actuality, alternating the detailed narration of the life of migrant refugees from their homeland to the nightlife of women of pleasure, touching the lanes of the folkloristic Naples full of life and secrets, dwelling on the history of fishermen and laborers, on life at sea and on land, telling the beauties and shortcomings of Naples and the secrets that are hidden in silence, and moreover the importance of protecting the Earth, the victim of over-nature abuses.

The album PARTHENOPE, published and distributed worldwide by Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. (under the supervision of Giancarlo Nisi and Alberto Zeppieri), was produced in the “Sud in Sound Record Company” by Gennaro Franco and Aniello Misto, and boasts the artistic and musical collaborations of great artists and musicians such as Antonio Mambelli, Marco Caligiuri, Fredy Malfi , Gabriele Borrelli, Vincenzo Palumbo, Giancarlo Sannino, Piero Gallo (featuring in the song ‘NA GRAZIA), Mario Sellitto, Michele Montefusco, Enrico Capano, Sasà Piedepalumbo, Marco Baldascino, Mimmo Maglionico, James Senese (feat. in MAI), Gigi Patierno, Alessio Castaldi, Lara Lombardi, Maurizio Capone, Marianita Carfora (feat. in N’ATA NOTTE ANCORA) and M ‘Barka Ben Taleb (feat. in ANIMA).

GINO SANTERCOLE – Album “Non Sono Celentano” A Italian character…

Bella Ciao Gino Santercole

A Italian character…

GINO SANTERCOLE is the niece (only 3 years younger) of the very famous singer ADRIANO CELENTANO, grew up together, spending all their youth together, from misery to great success.
Gino wrote the soundtracks of Celentano’s most beautiful films, including “Yuppi du” and the most important Celentano’s songs of the early days – the ones that led him to success – were written by Santercole.

This album of unpublished works contains music composed by Santercole and lyrics written by Alberto Zeppieri (also the creator of the project and producer of the album) and it is clear from the title “Non sono Celentano (Voglio essere me) / I’m not Celentano (I want to be myself)” as the author wishes to reaffirm his personality, without denying the best moments next to an uncle overwhelming personality.
The affection between the two artists is confirmed by the bonuses: great songs by Santercole, brought to success by Celentano and here re proposed by the author with unpublished and elaborate arrangements.

GOLDEN GRAPE ORCHESTRA – Album “INFINITY”

GOLDEN GRAPE ORCHESTRA – Album “INFINITY”

Composition de Marco Della Bona

Conductor Orchestra Mr. Jericho

A suivre donc…
